The Light of Christ

AKKMC-0001Today’s first reading recounts the very first covenant in Salvation History made possible between God and Abram by reason of Abram’s response of faith.

In today’s second reading St. Paul briefly describes our destiny: “He will change our lowly body to conform with His glorified body by the power that enables Him also to bring all things subject to Himself.”

Finally, today’s Gospel presents us with the mystery of Christ’s transfiguration, a brief glimpse of His ultimate glory, prior to the seeming catastrophe of Calvary.

Reflecting on these passages during Lent are meant to be incentives for us as we weather the trials of life.  And a valuable lesson also… specifically that with a faith like Abram’s we might be able to see beyond the present challenges to the light of a transfigured Christ at the end of the tunnel!
