Catholic Schools Week 2016 Begins: This year’s Catholic Schools Week is January 31 to February 6 and is full of exciting ways of celebrating our Catholic faith. Just a few of the highlights include: School Spirit Day, Dress as Your Favorite Book Character/Author Day, Governmental Leader and Superintendent’s Day and a liturgical celebration with our Bishop. A complete listing of events is posted on the hallway bulletin board and on our website.
Service Projects: The school has been participating in two service projects which will culminate during Catholic Schools Week. The first is being run by our Pre-K Blue Room and is called “Project: Cameron’s Story” which collects brand new children’s books for neonatal intensive care units throughout New York State. This is the 7th year of this worthwhile program. This not-for-profit organization will pick up the books on Monday, February 1st. The second service project “Gifts of Warmth from Our Hearts” began under the direction of Mrs. Thomas, our art teacher, and will culminate on Saturday, February 6th. The participating students met after school to learn how to knit, crochet or sew hats, mittens, gloves and scarves for the needy of Troy. Parents were asked to donate the materials needed by this group and were even encouraged to donate items that they themselves had made for the cause. These items of “warmth” will be placed in a zip lock bag and labeled “I AM NOT LOST” and then hung in Barker Park in downtown Troy on Saturday, February 6th. where they will be available for homeless and needy residents of Troy.  Supplies will be replenished until the end of February.
