Patience is a Virtue

15 Dec 2013 by SHRCChurch, No Comments »

Advent 2010-003Patience is not a particularly popular virtue these days. We want results now! If not yesterday! Yet, St. James in today’s second reading counsels us to “Be patient brothers and sisters, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth …”

If anyone is a model of patience, it has to be John the Baptist, who spent his entire life in much austerity and even in prison, longing for Emmanuel. “Are you the one who is to come…?”

Have you ever wondered how patient God is, waiting for us to get our act together? Don’t get caught up in all the materialistic scurrying about around us at this time of the year, but patiently focus on making room in our hearts for His coming!
