Volunteer Opportunity

If you, or your family, would like an opportunity to participate in the offertory and carry the gifts to the altar for an upcoming Mass, a sign-up sheet may be found in the vesting sacristy located at the rear of the church.  Please consider taking this opportunity to take a more active role in our celebration of Mass.

What Should We Do?

The people came out to see and hear John, and liked what he had to say but didn’t know how to carry it out.  “What should we do?” was the question and John gave them very tangible and life changing practical things to do – especially things that others could see.

The world is still watching to see if Christian creeds and rituals make any difference in the actions and ethics of those of us who claim to be God’s people.  Do we practice our faith in public – the market place, the business place and the highways of life?  If they do not see us doing the truth, they will care little about the truth we speak.

Reconciliation Service

There have already been several opportunities to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation during this Advent season.  Another opportunity for individual confessions will occur at Sacred Heart Church at 7:00pm on Monday December 17, 2012.  Several priests will be available.  Please consider taking advantage of this opportunity to receive the graces of reconciliation in anticipation of and preparation for the celebration of our Lords birth.

Parish Office Holiday Hours

Parish Office will be closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and also Wednesday, December 26th.  Parish Office will be open on:

  • Thursday, December 27th 9am – 4pm

Faith Formation News

As part of Sacred Heart’s Advent service projects children enrolled in the Faith Formation Program decorated paper bags (Early Childhood Program students) and created Christmas greeting cards (Upper Grades) to be given to home bound members of our community at Christmas.  Classes for Grades 1-8 will resume on January 6, 2013!

Prepare Ye the Way!

In this second week of Advent we hear in Luke’s Gospel that the word of God came to John the son of Zechariah in the desert.  John traveled throughout the whole region of the Jordan, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgivness of sin… “A voice of one crying out in the desert:  “Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths.”

Please consider making an effort to take advantage of one of the many opportunities for the Sacrament of Reconciliation during this Advent season.

Communal penance services will be held at St. Michael’s at 11am and St. Jude’s at 7pm – both on Wednesday, December 12th.  A service for individual confessions will be held at Sacred Heart at 7pm on Monday, December 17th.  Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord!
