24 Days of Christmas Raffle

Much like our March Madness raffle, Sacred Heart School is holding a 24 Days of Christmas Raffle.   Here’s how it works;  For a $5.00 raffle ticket, the winner receives 24 chances to win $25 in prize money each day during the month of December.  The raffle will run from December 1 through December 24.  On the 12th day of Christmas (December 12th) the prize will be $100 and on Christmas Eve (December 24th) the grand prize will be $500  Each winning ticket gets put back in the raffle for subsequent chances to win, so donors truly have 24 chances to win (Yes, it does happen)!  That’s it: 24 chances to win $25 – $500 prize money for five bucks – it’s a no brainer!   The children choose the winners each day during morning assembly, which makes for an exciting start to each day.    Winners are also posted on a display board in the church hallway and on the school website to make everyone aware of the lucky winners.

Fair Trade Sale

Shoppers browse through handmade goods at the “Fair Trade Sale” held in the school cafeteria on Saturday 10/22 & Sunday 10/23/11.  Not only did these parishioners get a “jump” on their Christmas shopping but they also provided much needed support to artisans from around the world.  In the process  each of these shoppers took a small step toward promoting self-respect, dignity and peace in areas of the world where poverty and unrest are all to common realities of daily life!

Who wants to win $1,000?

It’s Raffle Time

Who wants to win $1,000?  The Sacred Heart School Annual Raffle is underway.  The tickets are $1.00 each or a book of 12 for $10.00.  Tickets may be purchased in the school office or from any student.   Tickets are available on the tables in the back of church, just fill them out,  make your check payable to Sacred Heart School and leave them in the school office.   Help us reach our goal of  $11,000.

Fair Trade Sale Coming to Sacred Heart

Sacred Heart Social Justice Committee, along with the Diocesan Commission on Peace and Justice, is hosting a “Fair Trade Sale”  in the school Cafeteria following all Masses on Saturday October 22, and Sunday October 23, 2011.   This sale provides a market for artisans from around the world, and is a way for us to promote self-respect, dignity and peace in areas of the world where there is poverty and unrest.

Please plan to start our holiday shopping early and stop by the Cafeteria after Mass to see the wide variety of affordable, handmade goods, gifts, coffee, chocolate, olive oil, toys, soup mixes and much, much more for sale!

What Will You Wear to the Banquet?

“Go out, therefore, into the main roads and invite to the feast whomever you find.”  Beginning with our Baptism, we have each been invited to the Lords Banquet.  Also realize that our invitation to the banquet is not a once-in-a-lifetime call.  No it happens again and again every day.  When we do not “see” the suffering of the poor, or turn a “deaf ear” to the cries of the hungry and homeless, we refuse this invitation.   In today’s Gospel the garment represents the very best we can do, a converted life full of good deeds!  Accept the invitation but be sure that you arrive at the feast in your “wedding garment!”

“Peaceful now, those who’s hearts are blessed with understanding of the wheat, of the wine united with God’s word and the love we share.”

It’s Cheesecake Time

The Nuns of New Skete Cheesecake fundraiser is underway.  Click on the form for more details.
