2013 Easter Vigil Candlelite Congregation-3284“…man sees the appearance but the Lord looks into the heart.” (1st reading) “Try to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. Take no part in the fruitless works of darkness;…” (2nd reading)

Now half way through Lent and its disciplines for improving our spiritual perceptions, reflect upon the blindness of the Jewish officials in today’s Gospel. From our human perspective these men appeared to be among the most pious of believers. But the truth is their hearts were not in tune with the Lord’s.

Rather than opening their hearts to accept the Lord’s priorities and His manifestation of true love of God and neighbor, they projected their own ideas of piety upon God. Because of their  well intentioned yet misguided human prejudices, they could not learn what is truly pleasing to the Lord.

We all have our own personal prejudices in the way we see and interpret the world around us. Our Lenten prayer must always be a plea that what we think, be in tune with the Lord.

In the words of St. Francis…“Make me a channel…”

Marriage

Please call the Rectory (274-1363) weekdays for an appointment at least six months in advance of wedding.

Hospital Visits

If you, or a loved one is admitted to the hospital, it is important that you identify yourself to the hospital as a member of Sacred Heart Parish or contact the Rectory (274-1363) to inform us of your hospitalization.
