Let Your Light Shine!

DSC_1160Today, Jesus’ teaching  provides a “road map” for Christian living.  Within the context of the Sermon on the Mount He commands, not just suggests: “…your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.” (MT 5:16)

The prophet Isaiah spells out some details as to what this might entail: “If you remove from your midst oppression, false accusation and malicious speech; if you bestow your bread on the hungry and satisfy the afflicted; then light shall rise for you in the darkness,…”

All the recent Popes have repeatedly urged and tried to impress upon us that all the faithful, not just some, are called by God to bear witness to the Good News, and St. Paul reminds us today, we are not dealing with mere human wisdom, but rather the power of God!
