Let your Light Shine!

DSC_1120“…I say to you, whoever believes in me will do the works that I do…” Have you ever asked yourself: what works do I do, precisely because I believe in the Christ who died and rose for us?

How many of us instead have internalized a certain secularization, the prevailing cultural belief that religion is something to compartmentalize, to privatize, to keep to a Sabbath day (and only an hour at that)?

The Acts of the Apostles keep telling us that the number of converts kept increasing due to the fervor (fearlessness?) of the early Christian communities. How many times did St. John Paul II publicly quote the opening words of today’s Gospel: “Do not let your hearts be troubled.”?

Do we truly believe that Christ is the way, the truth and the life, if we hide that faith from our fellow humans we are called upon to love as ourselves? Let your light shine!
