Lent: Why Do We Need It?

17 Feb 2013 by SHRCChurch, No Comments »

The very first scripture passage (Joel 2:12) read on Ash Wednesday is one answer: “Yet even now, says the Lord, return to me with all your heart…”  And another, the last sentence of Luke today: “When the devil had finished every temptation, he departed from him for a time.”  The tempter will return!

A season specifically set aside devoted to self-scrutiny, repentance and a renewed commitment to follow in Jesus’ footsteps.  The same Spirit that led Jesus into the desert leads us into these forty days of Lent – to focus on Jesus with the intention to, “Bring Christ to the world!”

Please take a moment and view the Youtube video below, prepared by Our Daily Visitor and reflect on Why we need Lent!
