How Strong Is Your Faith?

DSC_3115In the second reading today, St. Paul reminds us of a very important point in our efforts to live our lives in union with Christ: “Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How inscrutable are his judgments and how unsearchable his ways.” Similarly, if we look deeper into the background of today’s first reading in Isaiah (cf. Is. 36-37) we discover how Divine Providence can confound even the most certain of human assumptions. Would St. Peter in his youth ever have dreamed where God’s inscrutable ways would have led him?

Christ has promised that the gates of hell shall not prevail against his Church. But according to His inscrutable providence, the way is through suffering and dying with Jesus! We all must ask… is our faith sufficient to accept the challenge and follow where Christ leads us?  When daily life’s moral and ethical challenges test our resolve, and our faith, sadly we oftentimes fall short.  Thus we must constantly pray for God’s help each day!
