God’s Ways

6 May 2018 by SHRCChurch, Comments Off on God’s Ways

Just as last week, again, this week, in the Scriptures we hear the word “remain” is emphasized in the Johannine writing. One of the great lessons of salvation history portrayed in the Scriptures is that God remains loving and faithful, because that is who He is! It is His very nature to be steadfast and loving, or as St. John puts it: “God is love”.

It took some major disasters in His people’s history for them to learn that whatever Divine Providence leads them into in their lives, ultimately, the God Who is love is Who and What is behind it. And whether it seems to be “good” or “bad” fortune to us in our shortsighted ways,  it remains His love which is beckoning us to rely on Him rather than our own insufficient resources.

Are we willing to “see the light” and accept God on His terms, rather than insist on our own self-destructive terms?
