Center Your Life On Him!

DSC_6716Once again our liturgy today gives us a wonderful opening prayer: “O God who has prepared for those who love you good things which no eye can see, fill our hearts, we pray, with the warmth of your love, so that loving you in all things and above all things, we may attain your promises, which surpass every human desire.”

The recurring theme running through all three of today’s readings is that all peoples are called to His same glorious destiny!

In our first reading, the prophet Isaiah foretells it, “…for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples.” St. Paul, in our second reading reflects upon it, “…the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable…For God delivered all to disobedience, that he might have mercy upon all.” And finally in today’s Gospel, Jesus dramatically demonstrates it by healing the daughter of a believing Gentile who asked for his help!

Thus we pray in today’s Responsorial Psalm 67 “..may your ways be known upon earth; among all nations, your salvation.” And again: “…May the nations be glad and exult because you rule the peoples in equity; the nations on the earth you guide.” And finally: “May the peoples praise you, O God; may all the peoples praise you…”

If we but keep Jesus at the center…loving Him in all things and above all things we will attain the Father’s promises, which surpass every human desire!
