Blessed Are Those Who Believe

23 Dec 2012 by SHRCChurch, No Comments »

Throughout Luke’s Gospel he defines true faith as both hearing God’s Word and carrying it out.  In this the fourth and final week of Advent, Luke uses Mary as the example of true faith.

Mary and Elizabeth looked extremely ordinary, but with their willful participation God’s plan: the in-breaking of God into the world was unfolding.

This Sunday should not be simply a time of pre-Christmas sentimentality and merrymaking, but a time to turn our attention to and reflect upon the changes that God was about to accomplish in the world.  Blessed are those who believe, and in their believing, continue the good works of Jesus until he comes!

For each of us today: Are you changing anything in your life because of that Word?
