Advent is Upon Us!

20130306DSC_2912-023Advent is the season of prayerful anticipation. It is much more than a time of preparation for a remembrance/celebration of the birth of Emmanuel (Christ/God with us.)

We are not simply commemorating an historic event of many years ago. Rather we prepare for our personal meeting with Christ. Listen carefully to today’s Scripture’s references to the final coming of Christ. “…Watch, therefore; you do not know when the Lord of the house is coming, whether in the evening, or at midnight, or at cockcrow, or in the morning.”

Because we have been waiting so long for the second and final coming of Christ it is easy to become distracted and lose our focus as we follow our path through daily life.  One thing, however is certain we will meet Christ at our death, whether that comes before or after His final coming.   Take time now to prepare and heed Jesus’ warning… “May he not come suddenly and find you sleeping.”
