Music Ministry

Music has always been a significant voice of prayer in the liturgy of the church. The music ministry at Sacred Heart provides music for all masses and special events at the church under the direction of our music director.  If you have a gift as a singer and are interested in being a cantor or choir member, you are invited to consider this important ministry.  Please contact the rectory (274-1363) for more information.

Sacred Heart offers the following opportunities to enhance the liturgy through music:

Adult Contemporary Choir

The contemporary choir is open to all people of high school age and older. This choir is accompanied by instrumentals and generally sings one mass a month from September thorough June.

Adult Traditional Choir

The adult traditional choir sings one mass a month from September through June, special liturgies and High Holy Masses.

Children’s Choir

The children’s choir is open to boys and girls in grades 3-6. The children sing seasonally 5-6 times a year including our Christmas Eve liturgy.

Cantor

The Cantor leads the assembly in song at the weekend liturgies. To arrange for an audition, please contact the music director.

Ushers

Ushers are ministers of hospitality, tasked with ensuring “All Are Welcome” at Sacred Heart Church.  Ushers help seat people or assist the physically disabled or elderly and coordinate with those needing to receive communion in their seat.  Ushers assist in handing out worship aids for Mass, take up collections, ensure there are people ready to bring the gifts to the altar and, when necessary, help direct the congregation at communion time.  They distribute bulletins and other materials as needed before and after each liturgy.
